File Check

This special tool allows you to calculate CRC32 / MD5 / SHA1 values of any file you want.

These special values are used to check files for consistency and authenticity.

For Example: when download a file, you may see it's CRC32 or MD5 or SHA1 value published, so you can check your download file is valid.

You may select a file on the File to process box, or click the box's icon to browse for a file.
Right-click "File to process" edit box area to obtain a list of Recent Used Files.

Compare Values

Choose the values you want to obtain checking proper box(es): CRC32, MD5 and SHA1.

If you want to compare results against specified values, you may enter proper values to compare on proper box to specify what value do you expect to obtain. This may be useful to check (with no mistakes and eyes saver) files downloaded, for example, Antivirus signature files. Just Copy and Paste to avoid retype of values and errors. If you don't want to compare values, just leave fields blank.

Click the Go button to start calculation, you'll see results on the list.

Using Hashes Files

Hashes Files are simple text files, usually in Unix format, that register a CRC32 / MD5 / SHA1 Hash Value and proper File Names.

Using Hashes Files may be useful to compare several files at once, with all proper hashes already saved/specified in corresponding Hash File (to compare MD5 Values, a MD5 Hash File should be loaded).

You may Drag and Drop Hashes Files to the "Use Hashes Files to Compare Results" box on "Expected Values" tab.

Automatically, dropped hashes files will be loaded in proper Hashes Box, based on File Extension:

.crc CRC32 Hash File
.md5 MD5 Hash File
.sh1 or .sha SHA1 Hash File

If you drop a file with other extension, will be loaded on current Hash Box.

You may open Hashes Files Manually, just click the Open button. If you want to recall a previously used file, click the Recent button and select your file.

If a Hash File is loaded, that file content will be used to compare results. Proper specific single values are automatically disabled when using Hash File. If you want to re-enable single values, just Clear proper Hash Box with a click on "Clear" button on current Hash Box. To clear all Hashes Boxes at once (if loaded), just click the "Clear All" button.

Multiple Files

If you want to process multiple files, you can use drag and drop method, from Windows Explorer to the Results frame. The calculation process will start automatically once files are dropped. If you're unable to drop files in the Results frame, make sure you selected (checked) at least one calculation method to perform (CRC32, MD5 or SHA1).

Settings

Max simultaneous calculations

When you work with multiple files, File Check can perform several calculations at the same time. On Settings tab you can define how many calculations can perform (maximum) at same time, and choose the priority for each one.

Priority

Priority allows you to set how your CPU will be used to perform calculations. From Idle (low CPU impact) up to Time Critical (extreme CPU usage). Default setting is Normal.

Save Hashes File Names with Full Path Names

Check this box if you want to save Hashes Results including Full Path Name.

Default is save just File Names (unchecked).

Save Hashes Files in Unix Format

Check this box if you want to save Hashes Files in Unix Text format (fully compatible with Windows). Uncheck if want to Save in Windows Format.

Default is save in Unix Format (checked).
