Masks
Masks work by adjusting the opacity (transparency level) of the original image. Lighter regions of masks are more transparent allowing more of the original image to seep through. The darker regions of a mask are more opaque allowing less of the original image to seep through. A pure white region is 100% transparent whereas the pure black region is completely opaque (0% transparent). This transparency mask dictates how the source image and the mask are merged together.
The transparency mask is blended with the original image to produce interesting results. You can also specify a background color. The background color allows you to blend the source image into the color of your choice.
Occasionally you may find third party masks that are inverted. In this case you will need to check the Invert checkbox in order for the mask to look correct.
You can also adjust the opacity (transparency level) of the masks. If you do this more of the source image will seep through the mask.
You may use third party masks, however, the Masks will need to be in either JPEG or Bitmap format. If you encounter any masks with a .MSK extension (they are "typically" Bitmap files) they have to be renamed to .BMP. You can copy the masks to AVD Graphic Studio's data\mask\other directory and they will appear in the directory browser by default.
