Windows Service Check

General information

This check allows you to monitor the status of an Windows service either locally or remotely (LAN). First, you should select the name of the computer to monitor the Windows service on. You can do it on the General page of this check. Then, on the Settings page you can select the service name and failure criteria.

Note that when you try to monitor services remotely you must have local administrator privileges on the remote computer to connect to the remote SCM (Service Control Manager).

Status Conditions

• Success - If the check connects to the SCM (Service Control Manager) on the specified computer, finds the service by its name and the service status is not equal to the status specified in the failure criteria.
• Failed - If the check cannot connect to the SCM (Service Control Manager) on the specified computer, or find the service by its name, or the service status is equal to the status specified in the failure criteria.

Check Settings

Besides the standard properties, you should specify the following parameters for this check:

• Service Name - Service name. You can either enter this name manually or select it from the list.
• Fail if service is - Failure criteria. If the service status is equal to the selected from the drop-down list the check will be failed.
